OUR HISTORY
MEMS, originally founded in 1973 as a fire department rescue squad, has been proudly serving the Village of Mamaroneck and its surrounding communities for over forty years.
Mamaroneck Emergency Medical Service (MEMS), originally founded in 1973 as a Fire Department Rescue Squad, has been proudly serving the Village of Mamaroneck, Rye Neck, and its surrounding communities for the past fiftyyears. Staffed by over 65 volunteers, Mamaroneck EMS is a non-profit, non-government organization, committed to ensuring high-quality patient care, protecting the health and safety of our neighbors. Mamaroneck EMS operates one advanced life support (ALS) ambulance 24 hours a day, 365 days per year, and utilizes a basic life support ambulance, fly car, and utility vehicle for community events, standbys, and to provide additional support during emergencies.

CHIEF
JASON J. CAPALBO, BS, EMT-B
Chief Capalbo is the current, and longest-serving Chief, of Mamaroneck EMS. Jason joined Mamaroneck EMS in 2001 after serving as Captain of Fordham University Emergency Medical Service. Over the years, Jason has worked his way up to the rank of Chief where he has overseen several significant developments including the addition of 68-U1 and 68-05 to our fleet, the design and purchase of the new 68-A1, the expansion of our building's patio and ammenities, and the management of our agency through several significant medical and mass casualty events. Jason's favorite part of Mamaroneck EMS is its commitment to remaining a volunteer agency thanks to the support of our friends and neighbors.

CAPTAIN
LUKE MURPHY, BA, EMT-B
Captain Murphy has been a member of Mamaroneck EMS since 2014, having started his career at MEMS as a member of the Junior Corp. Having served as Captain for four terms as well as a member of the Board of Directors, Luke is excited to be returning to the leadership team. Captain Murphy also serves as the agency's Health & Safety Officer. Luke is a graduate of Tufts University with a double major in economics and Italian studies with a minor in finance.

FIRST LIEUTENANT
FRANK NUOVO, EMT-B
Lieutenant Nuovo has been a member of Mamaroneck EMS since 2018 and went on to earn his EMT certification in 2021. Frank is currently the MEMS Scheduling Coordinator and had previously served as a member of the Board of Directors. Lieutenant Nuovo is also actively involved in the training of new drivers at MEMS and appreciates the opportunity to mentor those new to the ranks of emergency medical services.

SECOND LIEUTENANT
GILLES THEUNISSEN
Lieutenant Theunissen joined Mamaroneck EMS as a Junior Corp. member in 2018, following in his sister’s footsteps, and has been consistently riding ever since. Calling upon his experience as an EMS Junior Corp. member, Gilles enrolled in Villanova University’s M. Louise Fitzpatrick College of Nursing in 2020 where he is now entering his senior year. In 2021, Lieutenant Theunissen joined the Membership Committee with the goal of expanding our membership as well as mentoring and training new members.

TREASURER
CRAIG GLASSER, EMT-B
Treasurer Glasser has been a member at Mamaroneck EMS since 2017 and currently serves as the agency's Treasurer. In this capacity, Craig manages the Corps finances including the distribution of funds as directed by the Board of Directors.

SECRETARY
SARA P. HIOS, RN, BSN
Secretary Hios has been a member at Mamaroneck EMS since 2015. Sara is currently a member of the house committee, and as Secretary, coordinates the organization's correspondence and record keeping. In addition to being a member at Mamaroneck EMS, Sara graduated from Quinnipiac University and is a recent graduate of Manhattanville College's Accelerated Nursing Program. Secretary Hios's favorite part of Mamaroneck EMS is the camaraderie of the members and aiding the community.
